My walk with a friend on Tuesday

While those of you I text with know I’m fluent in Bitmoji, I never figured out how to post one here. I think this is courtesy of my new computer having functional Air Drop. On mornings that I don’t run, I try to walk to some degree, usually to get coffee. Tuesday’s was a quick pop over to the Met while texting with a friend in London. Time zones make it work, and we got to talking about Wicked. Can you talk about show tunes with humming? I think that would be illegal.

matching is overrated. Don’t call the fashion police.

Great motto!

I love my patterns, and if I can avoid solid masks? Even better.ย  I’m most definitely amassing quite the collection, although the non running ones are much more fun. And the new Zooma hoodies are perfect for fall evenings. Nothing particularly exciting about this week and that’s A-OK.

Where did September go? I feel like it was just Labor Day, or really July 4th.ย  Another 90 mile running month. Took two days off at one point due to life, but happy with continued pain free running even after a near spill this week walking. Prehab is good.

GoTheDist:

  • 398,745 steps
  • 180.55 miles run/walked
  • 90.24 miles run

Didn’t chase steps this month and took some true off days in the same of self care. But I won’t lie, so close to 400K again stings.

YTD:

  • 3,561,759 steps
  • 1570.62 miles run/walked
  • 533.13 miles run

I never set any goals due to injury and given I took a subsequent month nearly off? That’s AOK. No rules this year. Also not knocking myself for a September with one book read. It happens. The world is upside down and you can’t force it.

Weekly run down with Kim and Deborah:

  • never miss a Monday: gloopy tail end of summer. 70 and 90% humidity. The run happened, that is all.
  • Tuesday: morning walk and a long day of meetings
  • Wednesday: plan was morning run but I woke to a windy soaker, which also woke me up a few times during the night. I went back to sleep but was rewarded with a gorgeous sunset when I set out after work.

what a sign

  • Thursday: office run group, flower edition. Love this whole campaign, but this sign especially.

Who you gonna call?

it’s protein!

  • Friday: how do you get to Tribeca when you’re not taking the subway? Ferry and a lovely walk through Lower Manhattan via the Ghostbusters firehouse. Moscow Mule & Peanut Butter Pie. Tracked and moved on.

happiness is

  • Saturday: somehow Elizabeth and I hadn’t seen each other in person since September 13! We got in all our fix Saturday with five miles of her ten mile route, with me joining her at my corner. Eight was great on a beautiful fall day, and we met up again later to eat our weight in sushi. So good. Life is better with friends, which was most definitely a theme for the week. Three days in a row with people was … needed.
  • lazy Sunday: off, but I’ll go for a walk.

who knew there was a real Ghostbuster’s fire house?! Too fun! You are racking up the miles this year. Despite everything the year has gone by quickly. I am so bad w the bitmoji I don’t think mine looks like me enough!

Like I said to Jenn on Instagram, we are absolutely building your to-do list when travel is a thing, and I can’t wait. My friend was staying around the corner and we had to be silly.
That’s how I feel about the facebook one and animoji. This hair isn’t right, but it’s close enough

Thank you for being kind to yourself over steps and reading goals. Matthew was excited to see the Ghostbusters fire house!

I know if I force it, I’ll just quit tracking. I figure this is my happy middle ground. I don’t see myself as a summer person, but the changing light is just like spring was here.

Ghostbusters firehouse? Now I am wondering if I ever saw the movie. I know I’ve seen clips of it but do wonder if that is why I have seen it at all.

    That sushi looks so yummy!!!

Great job on your walking and running!

I’m not sure if this was in the new movies, definitely the 80s one.
Sushi is hands down my favorite

I was looking at my mask collection the other day and told myself that I need to stop buying some for the time being – I didn’t realize how many I had!

    I love your bitmoji!

GAP enables me, as does CVS. The price is good and I can manage when I’m lazy about putting my laundry away. While I look forward to the day they’re not necessary, I have a feeling I ‘ll feel better wearing them on the subway in flu season anyway as I was always somewhat squicked by that. Thank you!

I hummed through this entire post! Gosh I miss the theater.

It’s so lovely that you get to wander that gorgeous city so often. Are things better? I feel like they might be getting better. I don’t know how things are going here – parts of the state are fine, others not so much. it’s exahausting.

I have a Broadway playlist. It’s not a typical running playlist but as you know, sometimes it just works.
Things are much better and I’m enjoying seeing it through a friend’s eyes as she’s back for the first time since just before shut down. We’re seeing some troubling signs and hope they can nip it, but it’s hard to know with upticks in other areas.

You had me at PB pie and sushi . . . yum! And of course getting together with a friend. ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s one thing about dogs, they gotta be walked. Now they’re not long walks & they’re super slow, but they do get us out there.

I was very sad that apparently I lost one of my masks on my walk at Saratoga. The irony being I never actually wore it! I really don’t have that many — there’s about 6 that I really like, and one or two others that don’t fit quite right. Wouldn’t you know the one I lost fit. ๐Ÿ™

I’ve been lucky not to lose one to anything but stuck inside a sleeve post laundry. I have two I love including the top one here, and most just work for going out and doing errands. Some too thick for running. While over all I don’t prefer the over the head ones, useful sometimes for running when others fight with headphones and glasses on ear

I too slacked on reading in September–but that’s because I was stuck in a book I should have DNF’d. SIgh…

Peanut butter pie sounds yum! Got an apple crisp baking as we speak.

Thank you so much for the card! You are so thoughtful.

You’re most welcome. I love writing so you may get another. I’m also happy to send a book or two
I was texting with Liz about how I was flitting in and out of books. Only bailed on one and I apologized to the book as it was 100% my brain cells and not at all the book
Enjoy the apple crisp! Mom & I made apple pie a couple weeks ago and it was yummy

That bitmoji is great! Iโ€™ve only seen one friend in person since March, and that was a few weeks ago for just a few minutes. The other friends I usually do things with are exposed to too many other people for my comfort level. This is definitely not the year to pursue goals you arenโ€™t into, or feel bad for not doing as much running/reading/whatever as usual.

Elizabeth and I have run together pretty regularly since May and neither of us is going into the office, taking subway and we’re both doing necessary shopping so we feel comfortable around one another. Colleague and I have run together on occasion lately. Friday friend was new but we were both appropriately comfortable/cautious
I feel like the world isn’t, so we need to be gentle with ourselves

I like your bitmoji! Mine needs some work LOL!

You have the right idea about protein – that peanutbutter pie looks so yummy.

I’m happy to hear you continue to have pain-free running!

That peanut butter pie tho…that needs to happen for me and soon. I totally agree on not forcing the reading. If I go on vacation (‘memba when people used to do that?) I’ll read a book a day without even trying, but the rest of the time it can take several weeks to a month to get through a book. I really like the book that I’m reading now and I don’t want to rush it. One of the privileges of being out of school is getting to read what you want when you want for as long as you want.

The Bitmoji’s are fun…my trick is doing a screen shot, then cropping it. I don’t think I’ve ever posted any on my blog…too paranoid about copyright crap (did I just type that? LOL), but I definitely text them at free will. YOU mentioned 2020 not having any rules…a few weeks ago, when I did the D2D 20K, via my bike, I made the comment that if 2020 can make up its own rules, then so can I (or anyone, for that matter, regarding virtual racing). I hold firm to that belief ๐Ÿ˜‰

I do love that Central Park sign. I feel the same way about our neighborhood trails.

I love that you’re giving yourself grace on your reading and steps. We all need to adapt that attitude.

    Somehow I missed this post.

I only have the free medical masks…they match everything and of course I never lose t hem.

That central park sign is perfect. Miss walking and running there as you know. There’s nothing like it.
