when you start a post on Sunday morning

By | March 28, 2021

and the week is a blur… Oops.
All fine, I just have almost no recollection of my runs or anything else.

Happy Passover and Happy early Easter to those who celebrate either. Hope you’re able to have healthy & safe holidays in these weird but improving times.

Despite saying I was only committed to Matty’s March Maggic challenge through quarantine, I finished it on Saturday. There was some modifying happening this week but it is done and I feel great about that. I’m taking a long overdue break from daily Matty and tackling the non-Becs Strength for Runners classes next.

This was a very podcast and accidentally very Ali week with:

  • Marathon Training Academy’s Choose to Get Stronger– high hopes for this one but it was very superficial.
  • GoAskAli What Makes a Marriage Last with Marlo Thomas.  Don’t worry, I’m in absolutely no danger of getting married.
  • Ali on the Run with Matty-I had to. Also really enjoyed hers with Olivia Amato.

Still have Morning Shakeout with Shalane Flanagan in my queue.

March was a good month. For the first time in a year, I’ll beat my step total from the prior year and will probably end with about 90 miles running. I stopped chasing steps, but it’s nice to see that happen with a more active than normal month. Thanks, Spring!

Weekly Run Down with Kim and Deborah:

sun was having a Monday

after work with my favorite bear

  • never miss a Monday: a gorgeous morning run where even the sun was struggling to come out of the fog. Enjoyed evening daylight for a read by the river.

hello watercolor skies

  • Tuesday: one of those becoming less unusual after work runs. While the new anti fog lenses are great, glasses are still often a headband.
  • Wednesday: rain started midday, approximately when I was zipping out to the library to pick up Barack & Joe, for which I’d been on the wait list since November 7! Otherwise nothing exciting beyond a short morning walk. Tired this week and decided to prioritize sleep.

here kitty kitty!

  • Thursday: long overdue return of the office run group with a side of Cat Hill on a day mild enough to wear a skirt! The start of three consecutive days of human interaction was so overdue.

windy afternoon on the Hudson

Daffy-fodils and a Lady Cardinal

oh sweet wonderful chaos

  • Friday: hi summer! 81 degrees in March. Perfect weather for a long walk hunting down copies of SVU magazines (welcome home Elliot Stabler!) and sitting by the river with a friend. Daffodils have been daffy-fodils since I was a kid. We’re having spring in fast forward this week and it’s a little weird.

welcome home summer hair

  • Saturday: spring came back and we had an absolutely gorgeous 11 mile run/walk in Central Park where I got to introduce two of my favorite local running friends. And yes, the pig tails are back as my hair is long enough to fall in my face, but not long enough for a pony tail. Aggressive non-matching continues thanks to the new Brooks and one of my favorite Skirt Sports patterns. Day ended with a book by the river, which is always glorious.
  • Sunday: it’s raining, it’s pouring, the old man is snoring. Good day to read, although I do hope to leave the apartment.

It was so nice to have some warmer weather this week! Glad you could take advantage of it. It’s raining here too today and is perfect for a lazy day inside.

raining here too but I got out early to hike.

I have to write my weekly run down every day or I would never remember what I did.

Loving your CP pics…it’s the closest I can get.

Yes on the Ali podcast and Shalane’s waiting for me.

Enjoyed the warm temps this week because as we know they never last…spring in the NE.

I think we have spring through Wednesday, surprised the rain isn’t washing it away.
I try to write it usually, but this week got away from me

I have to look at my Peloton profile and Garmin Connect to remember what I did each day. Once I’m done, I’m done. 😉 Love the pink tree in your picture. The white dogwoods in my neighborhood popped out into bloom on Friday. I opted for baking today. The rain has let up, and now I can see what I mess I made in the kitchen.

Do you have a plan for the non-BG SFR? I wish I took notes on the classes I’ve taken ….

I often write my WRD post on Sat night and I have to go back to Strava to remember what I did all week. Then I go to IG for the corresponding photos! It works right. Matty’s podcast was fun I hope to take a live in studio class w him sometime

Yep, Instagram and Strava are the only way I put this together. Side of my camera roll for the things like Monday night teddy bear.
When we get back to normal times, I would love to do a class with him/you.

I’m hoping that part 2 of the MTA strength podcast has more meat on it. It’s like “hey I’m already sold on the concept, I just need to know what to do!!!!!!”.

I was surprised it was so basic since they’re usually so much more well rounded. I wonder if that was teeing it up for a sponsor or something

Ha! I don’t sometimes start my recap until Saturday and like you, I look back and think, what did I do this week? Looks a little springy-er by you than here. It’s starting to green up but oh my goodness the wind was brutal today. Brrrrr

    wow 81 degrees in March!

I forget what happened on runs each week too. Strava helps!

    Great week Cari!

Well, no 80 degree days here. Even some of the forecast 70 degree days started off damn cold! Still & all, we’re actually getting some Spring & that’s always a nice thing.

Sounds like you had a great week!

It’s not unusual for all activities to blend unless I stay on top of it during the week. 🙂

I am so jealous of your weather on Friday! I usually start my post on Saturday but sometimes I do it on Sunday morning. I also look at my pictures to help me remember what I wore, what I saw, or how my run went. I also LOVED Matty’s podcast! I forgot to mention it in my post today. It was funny when he asked Ali if she had heard of Cody.

81 degrees? Are you serious? We don’t have half of that here and as a result, nothing is blooming. Glad you were able to take full advantage of that glorious weather.

It was only 81 on Friday, then 60s and 50s today. I’m kind of happy with that dip as we have no business being that warm this early. Me too, made it easier to get out

Send those 81-degrees days to Iowa, pretty please!! We had a cold and kinda dreary week, but the forecast is looking much warmer tomorrow (and lasting for awhile). My Insta posts guide me through most of my WRD blog posts LOL I just don’t have enough free time to draft my WRD’s throughout the week very often, so they sometimes don’t get started until Saturday.

Yeah, I have that same issue during the week which is why Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday posts almost never happen. I can usually scrap together notes for the post though
Happy to share the good weather so long as you let us keep some of it.

Although I enjoyed the nice weather this week, I agree with you that this week was sort of a blur! The weather on Friday was actually much warmer than I expected.

I really enjoyed Matty’s podcast. He just radiates positive vibes and energy.

I’m glad you mentioned that about the Marathon Training Academy podcast- I was thinking of checking that one out but now I won’t.
81 degrees??? That is warm for March!!! Sounds like you’re enjoying it. And a rainy Sunday sounds really nice too. Have a great week!

I try to write my recap as the week goes along, but if I don’t, I refer to my training log or else I’d have no idea what I did or when. LOL

How fun that you got to take an 11-mile run/walk with friends through Central Park on Saturday! It was in the high 60’s here on the farm on Friday, but I bet it was at least in the 70’s at home. The higher elevation keeps it cooler down here.
