September: Silence and Squirrels

By | September 16, 2024

well not silence, exactly. Serenity?

Linking up with Deborah and Kim for some weekly run down of squirrel footsteps

  • never miss a Monday: on a weird pattern of running out of daylight (aka leaving the work later than planned) and running to the gym where I finish my run. Filed under, some > none

what’s our next country?

  • Tuesday, the Cari and Jessie blogger world tour continued. Planned semi rest day post COVID and flu vaccines, but other than the midday sleepies, I was fine.

forever powerful

  • Wednesday, #RememberTheSky is one of the 9/11 tributes I love the most. Also wasn’t feeling the subway after some nonsense Tuesday night (all fine) so what better commute than Central Park. Running to the Memorial has become somewhat of a tradition and a friend and I walk/ran it.  I said it at 21, but felt even more true at 23 as if the world has moved on, yet I don’t understand how. It’s also surreal to believe the museum is ten years old now. That truly feels like yesterday.
  • Thursday: Brooklyn Museum press preview and an amazing celebration of LIFE with a friend marking five years cancer-free.

well I didn’t lose *all* my speed

  • Saturday: The Squirrel Stampede was one of my favorite and early 10Ks and I was very happy when I saw it back on the NYCRuns’ calendar, albeit relocated to a different island. Had been a minute since I did an NYCRuns race (April never got posted, but suffice it to say – there was a first in hail!) and it was interesting to see they moved to pace-based corrals in addition to splitting the 5 and 10Ks into different days. There’s also yet another new 10K course. What there isn’t is shade! Saturday was toasty but it was a fun run and it was nice to see I haven’t lost all of my speed after the IT Band, etc. Curious to see what my time will be if Halloween is seasonable and my costume isn’t ridiculous and if I remember my water. That was an o’dark thirty special in that I packed the Liquid IV.  The achilles was mostly quiet thanks to a flat course and while melty, we had the energy for brunch and the Stone Street Oyster festival. I really love fall.
  • Sunday: failed rest day, but nothing better than solving the world via loops around the reservoir.  Dirty, sunburned and HAPPY.

Yes! Or I will come down to you for one. Governors Island is the best because they’re small and it’s flat.

Congrats on the 10k! I’m struggling with long distances and a 10k sounds just perfect to me right now. so fun that you and Jessie met up again!

So cool to meet Jessie in country #3. And you know I love GI and even more if it’s not so HOT!!!
Hope to connect a few times this fall and at some time, run together LOL.

GI was too hot. Needs more trees.
2025 is the year for us to run. Maybe 2026
