Nothing wrong, just a super busy week. I’ll be honest, I forgot how hard it was to get runs in pre WFH and between three days in the office and it being museum o’clock, my windows were tight. Also had two mornings where I was in run clothes but couldn’t get out the door. I don’t like that for me. Looking forward to a couple of remote weeks due to the office move to get my own routine back. Linking up with Kim and Deborah to talk Detroit training.
- never miss a Monday: but I did. Time with friends > run. Friend was in town and wanted to see baseball. Yankees are on the West Coast, so Mets it is. Citi Field’s food is better than Yankee Stadium, but the wine was a nice find. It’s as if Mickey Guyton was singing with me in mind, There’s no point in asking because I’m gonna say, Rosé. The friend I was with is named Mike, as was dad so this made me smile. Mayo on fries all day especially when they don’t have ranch.
- Tuesday despite the late night I was dressed to run commute and nope. Was a long office day but meant I could run under the crazy moon. Pics never do it justice, but it’s always fun to try. Bonus, phone catch up with Deborah although we were deficient in our book chat.
- Wednesday: dressed, but nope didn’t happen due to two work calls. Spent the morning at the Whitney for a preview of this absolutely amazing exhibit and then had dinner with a friend who, we realized, I hadn’t seen in person in nearly six years! And yes she lives maybe two miles away.
- Thursday: a WFH day to actually get some work done and zoomed most of the day.EEK! Got out in time to catch up with a colleague for a few run/walk miles due to weather and just not feeling a run.
- Friday: an afternoon walk with an audio book (Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Lovely One) to the park to watch sunset with a dead tree one (Claire Douglas, The Wrong Sister). Best way to end the work week.
- Saturday: Detroit is a morning run, so of course all my long runs have been afternoon/evening because that’s exactly how you train. This week was no exception but I was excited about the prospect of a Hudson River sunset as I doubled back north. Alas I was slowed by the UN General Assembly crowds, a lack of urgency to move my ass and warmer than expected temperatures and about four miles in, I decided if the path was open to the track, I’d close it out there. It was, and I did. The alert from my watch before I even stepped on the track was creepy, even if it’s satellite/heat map (only track in Manhattan) driven. It was fun to have both laps and segments and I definitely hadn’t done 400s outside in a while, nor after a long “warm up”. Not in shape for them, but it was fun, which is all that matters. Only realized it when I went to look for this post, but it was nearly the same distance. Detroit sent out a 30 days until race day email on Friday. EEK
- Sunday: time with a friend, street fair. Errands. Knees were decidedly unhappy with 11 miles, but they chilled out.
Some weeks it is just hard to make everything we have planned happen. We can only do our best and still have fun !
You sure packed a lot in this week with no wiggle room for running! We all do what we can, right?
You did loads and loads! That thing on your watch about the track IS creepy as anything!
Dang, that’s a loaded week of busyness! I can sympathize (though my situation is far from identical). I’m really getting burned with my daily commuting. It really cuts into my quality time for any kind of training or focused fitness. I’ve got my feelers out, so I’m hoping for a change coming soon with my commuting time-suck #fingerscroswd
It can be so hard to fit things in sometimes. It sounds like you’ve been super busy, but also like you’re having a lot of fun. I love that, and I’m escited to see how Detroit goes!
How exciting you are heading to Detroit, almost my city! We are about an hour away. I’ve never run it but a lot of people here run it.
What I didn’t get a mention? LOL
It would have been funny if I bumped into you at the elephants.
I didn’t get in my CP runs or sunsets… at least I’m back again next week. Maybe catch you Oct 2…
